The Simple Woman's Daybook #11

FOR TODAY... Jan. 11, 2010

Outside my window... The sun is shining but I feel gloomy because today Mom goes back to her home in NJ.

I am thinking... Of Mom, and when we can have a trip to the US again to see and be with her or vice versa.

I am thankful for... The time my children and I were able to spend with Mom even for a short two weeks.

I am wearing... A pink house shirt with Tinkerbell on it.

I am remembering... The happy times my DS and DD shared with my Mom shopping for toys in the mall with her. =)

I am going... To wait for Mom's call to inform us they've arrived safely back in NJ.

I am reading... The same book still -- The Joy of My Heart by Anne Graham Lotz for my daily devotions.

I am hoping... To be able to spend more quality time with Mom especially that she's already in her sunset years.

On my mind... Is a safe and comfortable flight for Mom and stepfather back to NJ.

From the learning rooms... Nothing yet until tomorrow, when the kids will be back to school!

Noticing that... As I grow older, family relationships become more important on my list.

Pondering these words... "They will be mine," says the LORD Almighty," in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him. -- Malachi 3:17

From the kitchen... Left-overs from last weekend's food tripping with Mom.

Around the house... The kids are playing and I am resting as I am down with the flu.

One of my favorite things... The sight of Mom and my DS and DD bonding together.

From my picture journal...

Thanks to Peggy for allowing me to take part in The Simple Woman's Daybook. Blessings and have a great week, everyone!

  3. Oh Ruth, yes, I am. My eyes are so swollen from crying since this morning after we brought her and stepfather to the airport. It was like a case of separation anxiety for me because I'm the only one left here, and my family and relatives are scattered abroad. A mere 2 weeks isn't enough. She left 9 years ago to be with my sister, and we last saw her in NJ back in '06. Waaaah! Good thing my kids and DH are around to help ease the longing. My 7 year-old DD told me about her quiet time last night (from "What's for Breakfast?") -- about not worrying on doing things on your own when your parents are not around (like in school)because God is always there to see you through. I somehow felt better from the Word spoken thru her... The book is for kids but surprisingly, can also help adults like me. Truly, God's words are for everyone, anytime, anywhere, anyday...

  4. Hello Patricia,

Thanks for dropping by. Am taking some meds to ease my discomfort and fever. Glad you liked the flower image. 'Borrowed it from a great photographer from Canada.

God bless and have a great week. I will be following your blog; hope that's okay with you. =)

  5. the thought that 'i am with you always...' should be comforting and the thought that they are alive and breathing should be also...but nothing can combat the lonliness except to say it and go back to work!!!!!
hope the rest of your day is better....

  9. Hi Mama Bear,

The antibiotics my doctor prescribed are working well and fast, thank God. I feel better than yesterday, though I still need to rest. Yes, it is hard to be far away, especially from your Mom.

Glad to know about your upcoming Anne Graham Lotz Bible studies. Am sure you and your group will have a blessed time sharing the Word. God bless!

  11. Hi Doylene, the time we spent with my Mom was a big blessing, really. God is an awesome God, he makes all things possible even for a short time. My kids had a blast during her 2-week stay in Manila. Now that I am a Mother myself, I have all the more appreciated my Mom very much. =)

  12. Hi Jocelyn, my Mom and stepfather called Tuesday to inform us that they have arrived back in their home in NJ, safe and sound. It was a smooth flight back to the US, she said. I thank God for modern technology that we could see and talk to her thru the net every weekend. Thanks for your message, God bless you always. =)
